A unique course for church leaders
The BCDAF Training for Church leaders on domestic abuse is one of the few courses tailored to the spiritual, social and cultural contexts of black majority or pentecostal churches.
Our 1 day course
The course aim is to inform, involve and intervene. By the end of the course participants will:
- have a clear understanding and shared group perspective on domestic abuse.
- have a clear understanding of the role of the church in combating domestic abuse, and their own individual responsibilities to act within the church approach.
- gain understanding and confidence in using the toolkit and its resources.
- be inspired and committed to action.

What to expect
1
We run sessions with a minimum of 8 participants with one or a number of churches.

We offer small group-work for attendees to discussion in-depth specific issues for churches

During the Covid-19 pandemic, we will follow UK Government guidelines on social distancing.
Training Schedule
- Attendees will be sent joining instructions that include the Walk in the Way of Love Toolkit to review before the training day.
- Guided by reflections on biblical scriptures throughout, this training begins with biblical examples followed by definitions and figures for domestic abuse.
- We explore how churches should respond to domestic abuse.
- We step through options and stages for effective responses to reports and disclosures of domestic abuse And carefully explore the Do’s and Don’ts for responding to victims and perpetrators.
- Review and close.
