We know very little about how Black majority churches respond to reports of domestic abuse. There have been a few studies on domestic abuse in churches within the UK but with minimal inclusion from Black majority churches.
To better understand how Black majority churches are addressing domestic abuse and experiences of reporting and supporting churchgoers, a survey, interviews with churchgoers and focus groups with church leaders are now taking place.
This research has been approved by the University of East London Research Ethics Committee and is funded by a BA/Leverhulme Small Research Grant SRG2021\210837.
If you would like to take part in the survey (20 minutes max) please click below
If you are a churchgoer who would like to take part in an interview about your experience of reporting or supporting a fellow churchgoer with domestic abuse, please email Dr Ava Kanyeredzi, details below.
If you are a church leader who has supported churchgoers who reported domestic abuse and would like to take part in focus groups with fellow church leaders, please email Dr Ava Kanyeredzi, details below.
